Introduction toSemi Flex PCB
SEMI-FLEX is a flex to install PCB, typically it is a 4 layer PCB. And unlike the rigid flex PCB board, semi Flex PCB is made entirely of FR4. The semi flex is also different from conventional flex-rigid PCB’s. The flexing element is not polyamide but achieved by controlled-depth milling away the FR4 material in the bend area, so that it can be bent without cracking of on the area.

Why We Need SEMI-FLEX PCB.
On the SEMI-FLEX PCB, there is a specific area which is flex to install. Unlike polyamide, the FR4 material is not capable of bending too many times. However it can be bent for a limited number of times (typically 5-8 time) at a controlled radius and to any angle. This makes it an ideal solution where you need to mount two PCB’s into one unit at an angle to each other direclty without using connectors and cables or a rigid flex PCB. All this can be acheived in the semi flex PCB boards which is also much more cost effective than a traditional rigid Flex PCB board.
